Typically, approximately 50% Yttrium atoms replaced with highly doped Er: YAG, Erbium are used as laser media for the wavelength of 2940 nm. Erbium doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Er: YAG) is a light green crystal with various output wavelengths. Typically, approximately 50% Yttrium atoms replaced with highly doped Er: YAG, Erbium are used as laser media for a wavelength of 2940 nm. Due to the strong absorption of water and human body fluid at this wavelength, the Er: YAG laser has a wide range of dental and medical applications. For example, low doped Er: YAG (about 0.1-1%) Yttrium atoms are replaced, high power 1600 nm does not harm the eyes. Excellent optical and mechanical properties and a 600 ~ 800 nm wide pump band make the Er: YAG an ideal laser crystal.
